Dear Residents, Family and Friends:

 

On behalf of the entire team at Atlantic Memorial Healthcare Center, we want to thank you for allowing us to care for you or your loved one. We recognize the high level of trust that you place in us, and we are committed to providing high quality care to those whom we have the privilege to serve.

As you are most likely aware, the country is currently united in its attempt to navigate the challenges presented by the COVID-19 virus. Of course, we at Atlantic Memorial Healthcare Center have consistently been following the recommendations from the Center for Disease Control, including following strict handwashing procedures and wearing personal protective equipment when indicated by the resident’s presenting condition. We update our infection prevention protocols as new information becomes available. Likewise, we remain in close contact with the local and state health departments, and appreciate their ongoing guidance and support.

You may also have read or heard that there has been a positive COVID-19 diagnosis in Los Angeles County, which has caused us to revisit our visitation policy. Although the patient with the positive diagnosis was not and is not in our Facility, we are taking every precaution to protect our current residents, staff and visitors. As part of our efforts to manage this development, and in accordance with the recent guidance provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, we will be limiting visitation at this time and until further notice. By this, we mean that visitation will only be permitted in limited circumstances – for example, if the visit is essential for the resident’s well-being or if the resident is in an end-of-life situation. Of course, we are happy to facilitate virtual visitation by phone or FaceTime, and encourage you to remain in contact with your loved ones without in-person visitation until such time as we are able to welcome you back.

In addition to the above limitation on visitation, we are continuing to be proactive regarding any infection s that could impact our community. Please know that we are all fully engaged in takin g action to minimize the possible exposure associated with this and other viruses.

We thank you for your continuing confidence, and for helping us in our attempts to keep our resident s and staff safe. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns or requests for assistance. We will keep you updated as additional information becomes available.

Dear Family, Residents, and Friends:

On behalf of our entire team at ATLANTIC MEMORIAL HEALTHCARE CENTER, we want to thank you for allowing us to care for you or your loved one. We recognize the high level of trust that you place in us, and we are committed to continuing our tradition of excellence in 2020.

During the past year, ATLANTIC MEMORIAL HEALTHCARE CENTER has continued to make strides in our goal of providing the highest quality of care to our Residents. Additionally, we have spent considerable time and resources in emergency preparedness. For example, we have worked with the county, AHCA, DOH, CDC, the acute care hospital, and our community to develop a comprehensive plan to keep your loved one safe in the event the unexpected occurs.

As you may have heard, there is a reported case of the coronavirus in a facility in Kirkland, Washington. This is the first time we have been made aware of the virus appearing in a skilled nursing facility, and the news has afforded us the opportunity at ATLANTIC to reaffirm and validate our internal infection control processes and procedures. In addition, we want to assure you that we are fully committed to keeping staff and residents healthy during this time, and are actively monitoring and managing our environment to accomplish this objective.

For your information, we have listed below a sampling of some of our activities targeted to infection prevention:

  • Monitoring staff and visitors for proper hand washing or use of alcohol hand gels upon entering the
    • Using questionnaire to learn if they have exposed or at any other facility
    • Enforcing limited visitors by hours to ensure patient
  • Reviewing Isolation procedures and ensuring that they are appropriately
  • Educating staff, contractors, volunteers to stay home if they are sick
  • Educating visitors who are sick to stop visiting and working with families on alternate ways to visit their family members (like Skype, phone calls and email).
  • Checking routinely with the local health department for recommendations on restrictive criteria for visitations related to COVID-19.
  • Limiting public entrance to one door and ensuring hand sanitizer use, monitoring, and questioning of visitors to ensure safety.

  • Monitoring the CDC COVID-19 website for the latest information on Coronavirus prevention strategies, testing guidance and recommendations for health care

The facility will be providing information to staff and families on what they can do to protect themselves from the risk of possible infection. Per the Center for Disease Control, this includes:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed
  • Avoid close contact with people who are
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your
  • Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces.
  • Stay at home and away from others if you are feeling il
  • Provide reminders in the workplace about illness prevention steps
  • Prepare for possible absences in case of illness or school and childcare closures
  • The CDC does NOT currently recommend the general public to use

 The facility will also be coordinating with the resident council around:

  1. Cleaning and disinfecting measures in rooms and common areas.
  2. Monitoring visitors to ensure that no one with any signs or symptoms of illness is permitted in the
  3. Alternate modes of visitation (e.g. phone, email, skype).
  4. Infection control and prevention procedures
